The cooperative sector in South Sudan is in its infant stage as compared to other countries in Africa and the world at large yet the cooperative sector plays a significant role in economic development and poverty reduction.

In the development of cooperatives in South Sudan, we will mainly focus on strengthening the existing cooperatives in South Sudan and encourage formation or establishment of new ones and formation of state and national cooperative apex bodies by providing technical assistance in terms of training of management committee , board members and creating awareness among the communities in South Sudan on the importance and contributions of cooperatives such as savings and credit cooperative societies, farmer cooperatives societies, consumer cooperatives, etc.  in fighting poverty and stimulating economic development hence creating prosperity among the poor communities.
